Samantha Howard-Cantu, also known as “Miss Sammy” to her students and Sammy to her friends, is grateful to join the We Rock community in Stow, OH. As an occupational therapist, Sammy recognizes the significance of offering families in Greater Akron a play space where every child can engage in fun and inclusive activities together. With a deep-rooted passion for children and a commitment to making a positive impact in their lives, Sammy earned her Bachelor’s degree from The Ohio State University in 2013 and later pursued her Masters in Occupational Therapy from Cleveland State University.
Before joining We Rock The Spectrum, Sammy worked as an occupational therapist in various pediatric settings. She dedicated her time to supporting children in a private school for those with Autism Spectrum Disorder, part-time at an outpatient pediatric clinic, and a full-day preschool program for children with special needs. Additionally, she worked at a high-school program for students with multiple-disabilities, where a large focus was on vocational training and daily life skills. Regardless of the setting, Sammy’s biggest joy came from working directly with the students and seeing how she could make a difference in their lives.
Joining Sammy in the exciting journey of launching We Rock The Spectrum – Stow is her husband, Mike Cantu. Mike stands as Sammy’s biggest supporter, eagerly anticipating accompanying her as she pursues her dreams. Mike is a practicing litigation attorney at Walter Haverfield with a Masters in Business Administration. Together with their four-legged companion, Jack, they will soon celebrate their sixth wedding anniversary. Looking ahead, they are hopeful about expanding their family and enthusiastic about the idea of raising their children in the gym as it continues to grow. They’re excited to connect with the community, eagerly welcoming ideas, and committed to providing programming and classes that bring joy to all!
